A Beach, a Futbol Game, Two Costa Rican Snowcones, and Gnochhi
Apparently my computer does not like me and won't let me load the picture of the beach at Manuel Antonio so you will have to google it yourself. It is absolutely gorgeous and well worth the slight sunburn from a picnic and afternoon dodging the waves.
My Tico family has family near there and since Alina's birthday was last Thursday and Estevens birthday is this Thursday a trip was in order. We didn't get in until late Friday night but it didn't matter much. The next day we went to the beach for lunch and the afternoon until it started raining. A common thing here in the afternoons. Before the rain, though, I was introduced to the Costa Rican Snowcone. While muy rico (very yummy) it is very different from any like treat found in the United States. First, a cup is half filled with ice that is hand shaved from a large block. Then syrup is poured over it followed by powdered milk. More ice and more syrup is followed by sweetened condensed milk. Odd but yummy. That night we went to a Italiano restaurante that had GNOCHI! Not just gnochi but fresh gnochi with gorgonzola cheese salsa, again muy rico. Sunday was spent visiting family of my Tico family and watching a futbol game where another Costa Rican snowcone was had. In all a very good weekend, well except for being beat up by a four year old.
We stopped for dinner on the way home and when we were going to leave the mom, son and dad tico needed the restroom and Alina was supposed to stay with me in the car. She did not want to stay. She started crying and screaming. I locked the doors because I figured that would be her next move and it was. When she tried the door, realized it was lock and my fingure was on the lock so she couldn't open it she really let loose. Screaming then kicking, more screaming then hitting, more screaming then biting. Granted none of this was with much force as most of the attention was on the screaming. Oh well, hopefully she has forgotton by the time I get home today. Later,
P.S. Papaya and pineapple marmalade is muy rico on homemade bread.
